In 2008, the budget of the Nagorno-Karabakh Republic was 1.6bln AMD short in the form of tax payments because of reduction of production volumes of the largest tax-payer – “Base Metals” CJSC, the fact being caused by the global crisis. Mediamax reports that NKR President Bako Sahakyan said this, speaking at the reporting back meeting of the State Tax Service under NKR government. On the whole, NKR President gave a positive assessment to the work of the establishment last year. In 2008, the revenues, duties and the required social payments of the state budget made 17bln 271mln AMD – the growth of proceeds, as compared to the year of 2007, made over 3.5bln AMD, or 25.6%. “As a result of the works, realized aiming at ruling out dual standards and different rules of the game for market participants, the tax discipline and the level of tax maintenance, particularly, in the sphere of trade, significantly improved”, Bako Sahakyan stated. NKR President stated that, aiming at improving the activity of the system, “one should simplify the process of tax administration where it is possible, minimize excessive bureaucratic runaround and develop proper partnership relations with managing subjects”.
