In 2009, inflation at the level of 4% and GDP growth at the level of 7-8% are expected in Armenia, Chairman of the Central Bank (CB) of Armenia Artur Javadyan stated in Yerevan today. Mediamax reports that, answering the question on the possible fluctuations in the currency market, Artur Javadyan stated that the CB continues carrying out long-term floating rate policy. “The main task for CB in conditions of the global crisis is to secure stability of the financial system of Armenia, and our interference in processes in the financial market is conditioned by this very fact”, Artur Javadyan stated. “Each citizen should decide for oneself in which currency to keep one’s savings, and the banks, as it is known, establish higher rates for deposits in national currency”, CB Head stated.
