Yerevan /Mediamax/. Armenia government should shift from the policy of preserving the exchange rate of the national currency to directing money to the real sector of economy, member of “Dashnaktsutiun” parliamentary faction Ara Nranyan stated in Yerevan today. Mediamax reports that, speaking at a news conference today, Ara Nranyan stated that the government directed a significant part of the means attracted to artificial preservation of AMD exchange rate, which is beneficial for importers and hinders the development of the country’s economy. “The global financial-economic crisis does not practically influence the prices for foodstuffs, and this gives Armenia the opportunity to stir up its agriculture and food industry. The efforts of authorities should be directed to that”, the MP stated. According to Ara Nranyan, the global crisis helped Armenia get rid of the “mania of double-digit economic growth”. “Not the volume, but the quality of economic growth is important and it is better for the growth to be one-digit given diversified economy, than for it to be two-digit, basing on prevalence of a certain sphere”, Ara Nranyan stated. The MP also expressed an opinion that Armenia should get rid of the planned tax collections, “since this strongly oppresses business”, and noted the necessity to facilitate procedures of business registration and transaction.
