Yerevan /Mediamax/. Minister of Economy Nerses Yeritsyan does not think Armenia needs reduction of taxes to withstand the global crisis. Mediamax reports the Minister saying today that taxes in Armenia are not high even now. According to Yeritsyan, the main task for the state at the present stage is the preservation of business activity. The Minister informed that in March, 2009, a round table on stimulating Armenian export will take place, which will be attended by representatives of the government and business circles. Nerses Yeritsyan noted that starting January 1, 2009, and up to the end of 20111, Armenia will enjoy an improved trade scheme with EU states (GSP+), which gives opportunity to export approximately 6400 brands of goods at zero or significantly reduced customs duties to EU markets. The Minister also stated that the department headed by him has received $400 thousand from the World Bank to elaborate scenarios to develop Armenia. Scenarios of long-term development for Armenia will be composed by means of comparing various parameters and priorities of economy development; corresponding political and economic solutions will be found.
