Yerevan /Mediamax/. In the third quarter, 2008, the volume of money transfers to Armenia, realized through## 16 international systems (including Western Union), made 145bln AMD. As Mediamax was told in the press service of the Central Bank (CB), the volume of money transfers to Armenia in the third quarter exceeded 14.6 times the volume of means, transferred from the country abroad, and the volume of the net inflow of financial means to Armenia in the accounting period made 135bln AMD. At that, the private inflow of financial means through the banking system of Armenia in the third quarter exceeded the analogous index of 2007 for 25% (for 26.9bln AMD). The average volume of a money transfer to Armenia through international systems in the third quarter of 2008 made 293 thousand AMD, having increased, as compared to the analogous index of 2007, for 21 thousand AMD. By the decision of the Central Bank, since October, 2008, participation of all Armenian banks and organizations, involved in realization of money transfers, in Western Union system, has been ceased. On October 10, answering the question of Mediamax, Chairman of the Armenian Central Bank Artur Javadyan explained that a number of Armenian banks continue cooperation with Western Union before the terms of agreements signed earlier expire.
