Yerevan /Mediamax/. “Ameriabank” plans to acquire one of Armenian banks##.

Mediamax reports that the Director of Development Department of “Ameriabank” Tigran Dzrbashyan said this in Yerevan today. He noted that “Ameriabank” is now studying a number of Armenian banks, aiming at acquiring one of them.

“To secure aggressive growth, at certain points one should not only create one’s own, but also acquire already existing assets”, Tigran Dzrbashyan stated, adding that, following the results of the third quarter of 2008, the capital of the bank has increased 4,5 times, as compared to the beginning of the year, which is an “unprecedented phenomenon” for the banking sector of Armenia.

Answering the question of Mediamax on the influence of the global financial crisis on the bank’s policy and the possible change in credit and deposit rates, Tigran Dzrbashyan stated that “Ameriabank” does not plan to increase the interest rates.
