Yerevan, August 16 /Mediamax/. MTS and VivaCell mobile operators do not confirm, but neither have they refuted the reports, according to which the representatives of the Russian company are in Yerevan for the assessment of the cost of the Armenian operator. Commenting in the interview to Mediamax on the reports, according to which the representatives of MTS have arrived in Yerevan for holding the assessment of the cost of VivaCell, the Spokeswoman of MTS Irina Osadchaya said the following: “Our stance remains unchanged - we are interested in acquisitions in Armenia and we are examining all the possibilities on this market”. In his turn, Spokesman of VivaCell Vahe Isahakian told Mediamax that “at present, we have no information available. As soon as we have it, we will share it with the public”. On July 12, the General Director of VivaCell Ralph Yirikian refuted the statements on the possible sale of the company. He compared VivaCell “to an 18-year-old young lady, who has many worshippers, who want to tie their lives with hers”. However, he noted, “the young lady does not want to get married, but she wants to realize her plans”. In late March, commenting on the statements, according to which the Russian AFK “Sistema” held talks on purchasing VivaCell, Spokesman of MTS Irina Osadchaya was saying in an interview to Mediamax: “MTS is interested in purchasing assets in all the CIS states, including Armenia, however at present it does not have acceptable proposals on purchasing mobile operators in Armenia, satisfying the criteria of strategy in the sphere of mergers and takeovers”.
