Yerevan, July 6 /Mediamax/. In 2006-2007 financial year, the growth of sales of the Yerevan Brandy Company (YBC) made 4% - mainly due to the expansion of the markets of Ukraine, Belarus, Armenia and Baltic states.

Mediamax reports that, speaking at a news conference in Yerevan on July 5, Ex-President and General Director of the YBC Herve Caroff, appointed the Director on Development and Operations of Pernod Ricard Eastern Europe, noted that the growth of sales of “ArArAt” on the Russian market was limited in connection with the problems, which arose in 2006 in Russia because of the import of new documentary stamps.

The growth of sales of “ArArAt” on all the markets in “Premium” and “Super Premium” segments made, correspondingly, 8% and 14%. “The two segments mentioned make the 32% of the whole quantity of sales of YBC, and this completely corresponds to the global strategy of premiumization, the process of which was started in spring of 2005”, Herve Caroff stated.

Answering Mediamax’s question, Herve Caroff noted that the YBC continues studying the issue of re-launching of the traditional Armenian “Dvin” brandy, which will be sold in small quantities in “Ultra Premium” segment.

Besides that traditional markers, YBC started to export its production to the USA, Poland, the Asian market /Vietnam, Singapore/. YBC registered growth of sales in Germany and it is preparing to enter the French market, where there is a large Armenian community and many Russians and Ukrainians. Recently, the YBC realized the first supplies to Romania and Bulgaria.

The growth of sales in Armenia during the accounting period made 7%. The growth in “Premium” and “Super Premium” segments in Armenia made, correspondingly, 15 and 14%.

In 2006-2006, serious growth of sales of key brands of Pernod Ricard was registered in Armenia: Chivas Regal (+ 70 %), Beefeater (+47%), Jameson (+120%), Havana Club (+70%), Olmeca (+100 %).
