On December 5 Philip Morris Armenia (PMA) signed Memorandums of Understanding with Armenian National Polytechnic University (Polytechnic) and Yerevan State University (YSU).

According to the memorandum with Polytechnic, PMA plans to discuss the establishment of an R&D facility in Armenia, including the establishment of research laboratories within the premises of Polytechnic.

“In addition, PMA is interested in discussing the possibility of fostering and developing educational and research initiatives in areas of interest to PMA,” the company noted.

According to the memorandum with YSU, PMA plans to discuss the support that may be provided by PMA for the development of educational and research programs in areas of technical and scientific interest for PMA, which may include Master’s and PhD research projects.

Currently fundamental and applied research projects in chemistry, biology, physics, mathematics, engineering, thermodynamics and other fields are being conducted in Philip Morris R&D facilities located in Switzerland and Singapore.
