Grand Thornton has been named the 2017 Employer of the Year by the International Accounting Bulletin (IAB) for the third time.

The company noted that IAB also recognized Grant Thornton in two other categories, awarding its Women in Business report with the Thought Leadership Initiative of the Year Award and handing the Lifetime Achievement Award to Grant Thornton CEO Edward Nusbaum.

While handing over the Employer of the Year award, IAB jurors said: “Grant Thornton is recognized in the market for its particular focus in the last few years on its employees, both at member firm level and at global level. Grant Thornton has embedded in its 2020 strategy the objectives of being the most recommended firm not only for clients, but also its staff. The company aims to achieve this through a number of initiatives, in particular, transformational leadership and what it refers to as “people experience,” which aims to put people at the heart of everything it does.” Jurors described Grant Thornton’s policy as simply outstanding.

While handing over the Thought Leadership Initiative of the Year for Grant Thornton’s Women in Business report, the jurors stated: “Grant Thornton was rewarded for choosing to tackle a very relevant issue, gender equality. Grant Thornton issues annuals reports that showcase the role of women in senior corporate positions and the ways to higher gender diversity. It highlights very vital outcomes for more gender-balanced senior leadership teams.”

The jurors also awarded Grant Thornton Global CEO Ed Nusbaum the IAB Lifetime Achievement Award, noting: “The Lifetime Achievement Award is only more fitting due to the fact that Nusbaum will retire at the end of the year after 8 years at the helm of Grant Thornton International. Under his tenure, the network has grown by 33% in global revenue and 55% in global headcount. Equally the network membership grew by 26% and the number of offices rose from 529 to 733.”
