Central Bank of Armenia has issued a commemorative coin for the three-day visit of Pope Francis of the Roman Catholic Church to Armenia. The observe of the coin bears the image of Khor Virap monastery and the date of the Pope’s visit with Mount Ararat as the background, and the reverse of the coin shows the statue of Saint Gregory the Illuminator in the niche of St. Peter’s Basilica in Vatican, as well as coats of arms of the Armenian Apostolic and the Roman Catholic Churches.The Central Bank informed that the commemorative coin is produced in limited issue and has historical and cultural value.It is worth reminding that the motto of Pope Francis’s visit is “Visit to the First Christian Nation”.
