Armenia and U.S. will sign a Trade and Investment Treaty in coming two days. U.S. Ambassador to Armenia Richard Mills today confirmed these reports answering the question of Yerkir Media TV Channel. The U.S. Ambassador said the treaty will be signed during President of Armenia Serzh Sargsyan’s working visit to Washington, DC, on May 5-7. “We are very pleased that progress is being made towards the signing of the Trade and Investment Framework Agreement (TIFA),” said the Ambassador. He added the deal will result in “more opportunities for trade and business” between the two countries. “I can assure you that the relationship between Armenia and the United States is very strong. President Obama thinks this relationship is very important,” said Mills.At the meeting last week, the Armenian government approved the signing of the long-negotiated agreement elaborated in order to enhance investment and business initiatives and to expand trade and economic cooperation between Armenia and U.S.The document envisages the establishment of a U.S.-Armenia Trade and Investment Board co-chaired by the Ministry of Economy on the Armenian side and the United States Trade Representative on the U.S. side. The Board aims to enlarge trade and economic opportunities of both countries, and detect possible bottlenecks in areas such as intellectual property, business environment, employee rights, etc. Tweet Views 13923
