Yerevan, August 9. /Mediamax/. The volume of money transfers to Armenia during 2003-2005 grew by 37% and made 15% of the GDP. The Head of the Foreign Statistics Sector of the Statistics Department of the Central Bank (CB) of Armenia, Karine Karapetian, stated this in Yerevan today, Mediamax reports. She said that in 2005 the housekeeping economies of Armenia received about $940mln from abroad. According to her, these data were received in the result of a poll taken up by the “Alfaplus Consulting” Company based on questions worked out by the CB of Armenia. The main aim of the poll was the importance of the clarification of the information objectiveness about money transfers to Armenia through the banking system, she stated. In the result of the poll it was discovered that 37% of the housekeeping economies receive money transfers from abroad, 72% of which are from Russia, and 14% from the USA, the CB representative noted. Karine Karapetian stated that a large part of the money transfers [34%] are received by the people living in Yerevan. According to the statistical data, in the January-June period of 2006, the volume of money transfers grew by 34%. At the same time, 97% of the transfers are carried out in US dollars. Tweet Views 9000
