Uzbekistan aims to attract $1 billion in foreign investment to the fintech sector by 2030.

According to Interfax, this was announced by Timur Ishmetov, head of the Central Bank of Uzbekistan.

“Uzbekistan is open to investment, technology, expertise, and long-term partnerships. Regional financial integration cannot be achieved by a single country acting alone. We invite our partners to work with us on infrastructure and standards that can connect the markets of Central Asia and other regions. With the right partnerships, Central Asia can become a more interconnected, competitive region that is fully integrated into the global financial system,” he noted.

Timur Ishmetov announced that the Central Bank has established its own innovation hub and plans to begin accepting its first group of residents in the fourth quarter of 2026.

“The hub will provide a complete journey – from incubation and acceleration to regulatory support, pilot testing, and preparing solutions for market launch,” he explained.

Among the priorities for the development of the fintech ecosystem, Timur Ishmetov highlighted financial infrastructure:

“We are developing open banking APIs and payment standards that will enable the financial system to scale and operate across different jurisdictions.”
