Most establishments do not have convenient ways to pay for an order or leave a tip. Also, each guest of a restaurant or cafe, on average, expects a bill and a terminal for payment for 5-10 minutes. As a result, the turnover of tables does not increase, and the waiters earn less than they could.

Foundarium, a startup studio from Russia, paid attention to this problem and developed the Tapper service, which allows guests to pay the bill by one click, leave a tip using a QR code, split the payment among any number of guests, and send a link to another person to pay the bill.

Rusbase reports that the service was launched on January 24 in one of the Moscow cafes. Already on the fifth day, 63% of all payments began to go through the service. Waiter tips increased by 80%, and the speed of the service by more than 42% because waiters started spending five to seven minutes less on each guest. This year, the company plans to cooperate with 3,000 cafes and restaurants throughout Russia. It is planned to add a tool that will help cafes and restaurants develop their own delivery service in order to be less dependent on aggregators.

Everything happens seamlessly: the guest scans the QR code, immediately sees his/her order and the total amount, indicates how much to add a tip, and pays everything in one payment using Apple Pay, Google Pay or just a card and leaves a review for the establishment. There is no need to register or download the app anywhere.

To launch and develop the service, Vakhtang Tuzhba, the founder and CEO of Foundarium, raised $5 million in investments back in summer of 2021. This made it possible to gather a strong team in just six months, overcome technical obstacles and test the main functions. Now the service fully operates and the connection of cafes and restaurants is underway.

After payment, the bill is paid automatically with the withdrawal of the check without the participation of the waiter. At the same time, the amount for the order is instantly transferred to the restaurant’s account, and the tip is sent to the waiter. In addition, by using the service you can:

- call your waiter and send a comment;
- leave feedback to the management after payment;
- view the menu and place an order;
- book a table with a deposit.

Connecting and using the service for most cafes and restaurants will be actually free, since the commission does not exceed the percentage for regular acquiring. Tapper also offers flexible terms for restaurant and cafe chains, depending on the connection method.
