Sberbank plans to launch a crowdlending platform in the first quarter of 2019, which will allow natural persons lend to companies.

Banki.ru reports that Sberbank First Deputy Chairman of the Management Board Alexander Vedyakhin shared the news.

“The platform will have several interesting features. Firstly, we want to offer risk assessment for the legal persons who intend to borrow from individuals. We will provide risk assessment and our mobile app Sberbank Online will process the investment. In most cases Sberbank is going to be a co-investor in the legal person. This way, the clients will understand the level of risk they are taking,” explained Vedyakhin.

At the same time, Sberbank CEO Herman Gref urged not to hasten regulation of new technologies while speaking at X Gaidar Forum.

“We don’t need excessive regulation. The EU outstripped the whole world by adopting a directive that halted the progress in the work with AI and big data. You should never hasten regulation and regulate what you cannot see or understand. I like the American and Chinese approach better; they probe, but they aren’t in a hurry to regulate,” said Gref.


Sberbank CEO also touched on the fight against corruption, stressing that the phenomenon will disappear if all activities in the sector of state governance are digitized.

“At the meeting with the President, we discussed creating a digital platform for complaints addressed to law enforcement agencies. I believe it is absolutely unnecessary. If we have transparent, digitized processing with access to the market, so that every decision of every official can be analyzed, the phenomenon of corruption will disappear,” noted Gref.
