Thanks to the partnership between Nairi Insurance and AXA, one of the world’s largest insurance companies, international health insurance packages are now available for purchase in Armenia.

Designed for both individuals and organizations, the program provides access to medical services that meet international standards, offering a simple and fast enrollment process with no additional commission fees.

On January 16, the launch of the program’s pre-sale phase for international coverage was announced, which will continue until March 1.



Strategic partnership

Olivier Decotigny, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of France to the Republic of Armenia, who attended the pre-sale event for the project, described the collaboration as strategic and expected it to continue developing:

“Insurance is not only an economic matter but also a social necessity, and this is precisely the foundation of the partnership between Nairi Insurance and AXA. We are already seeing the results of this cooperation, which allows both individuals and companies to access international health insurance products and a global network of hospitals.”

According to Hovhannes Khachatryan, Deputy Chairman of the Central Bank of Armenia (CB), this represents an unprecedented form of cooperation, as the prestigious European company, together with Nairi Insurance, is providing Armenian citizens with services that will introduce global-level competition to the country’s insurance and healthcare sectors.

“We are hopeful that this will be one of AXA’a first steps to success, ahead of larger projects,” said the CB Vice Chairman. 

New medical care opportunities beyond Armenia

The memorandum of cooperation between Nairi Insurance and AXA Insurance Company was signed in 2025. Mane Martirosyan, Executive Director of Nairi Insurance, noted that from the outset, the partnership represented a new path of development, introducing international standards and a higher level of insurer responsibility toward clients to ensure better healthcare services.

“Today, more than 50,000 people have entrusted us with the most precious thing – their health and that of their families. Over the years, our team has worked to ensure that those with health insurance are supported with confidence, peace of mind, and security. With us, the best specialists and high-quality medical services from leading medical institutions in Armenia have always been accessible. Now, all of this is available not only in Armenia but also abroad,” said Mane Martirosyan. 

Ludovic Lambolez, Head of Partnerships and Reinsurance at AXA Health International, added that they are bringing 40 years of international health insurance experience to Armenia, supporting Nairi Insurance with expert advice and collaboration with their medical specialists.

“AXA takes a highly selective approach when choosing partner countries and companies. We were confident from the start that our cooperation with Nairi Insurance would not be short-term but would follow a long-term development path. We will also support Armenia in making available the services that the market requires,” noted Ludovic Lambolez.

Service package offering medical care in 50+ countries

The Executive Director of Nairi Insurance noted that the international health insurance program was developed by analyzing Nairi Insurance’s existing healthcare portfolio alongside the needs and expectations of Armenian citizens and residents.

The program provides citizens and residents of Armenia access to world-class medical services through AXA’s global network of healthcare providers. The entire process is managed via an Armenian-speaking support center and a personal manager. The program offers access to medical care in more than 50 countries, 24/7 emergency medical services, telemedicine, multilingual support, the ability to independently choose doctors and clinics, and coverage for both emergency and planned treatments.

Services included in the program encompass: an annual preventive medical examination aligned with international standards; a comprehensive preventive check-up once a year at one of the world’s leading medical institutions; hospital care including surgery, emergency services, and intensive care; and reimbursement for medications, covering both in-hospital and outpatient prescriptions. 

Outpatient services, including general and specialized consultations as well as diagnostic tests, are also available under the program.

The program offers specialized treatment in several key areas: oncology, providing comprehensive cancer care including chemotherapy and radiation therapy; mental health, with access to psychiatrists and psychotherapists; orthopedics, covering fracture care and surgical procedures; and cardiology, offering diagnosis and treatment of cardiovascular conditions.

Emergency medical evacuation is included as well, ensuring air transport and safe return in complex cases.

Three insurance coverage plans

The program offers three different insurance coverage plans: Plan A with a maximum annual benefit of up to $1 million, Plan B with a maximum annual benefit of up to $750,000, and Plan C with a maximum annual benefit of up to $500,000.

Coverage can also be selected by region: worldwide, worldwide excluding the US and Canada, or Armenia and Europe. The program is available to both organizations and individuals. Corporate packages are available for companies, with the option of insuring employees and their family members, and individual programs are available for persons aged 18-65.
