Yerevan/Mediamax/. “Information Technologies for Business” project will on the one hand help Armenian business get familiar with the capacities of local IT companies, and on the other –help those companies understand the needs of various spheres of Armenian economy. Mediamax reports that Director of the Union of IT Enterprises of Armenia (UITE) Karen Vardanyan said this in Yerevan today at the briefing before the meeting of representatives of the IT and the financial sectors of Armenia. Within the framework of the project, which is initiated by UITE, high technology companies of Armenia will present their solutions every month to representatives of the banking, insurance, pharmaceutical, construction, foodstuffs, mining, agricultural, tourism and other sectors of Armenian economy. The first meeting within the framework of the project takes place today in the Union of Armenian Banks and will be continued on March 31. During the two meetings, 16 IT Companies - iCON Communications, GNC-Alfa, Norq, CQG, IMA, Shirak Technologies/SAP, Apaga Technologies, FlexAp, McAfee, EpygiArm, ArmSoft, Lime Tech, CHS Vericell, Damaris, Smart Tech and Alfa/Polycom - will present their solutions to Armenian banks. Karen Vardanyan noted that the advantage of cooperation with local IT companies, besides the higher affordability of services, is that their service centers are in direct closeness to banks and can operatively react to all their requests. Executive Director of the Union of Armenian Banks Seyran Sargsyan stated that despite the presence of local software support in the majority of the banks in the country, nevertheless, in a number of cases banks use products of foreign vendors, meeting the criteria of foreign partners of banks.
