Yerevan/Mediamax/. “Energy Efficiency EXPO 2011”, organized by the International Finance Corporation (IFC), took place in Yerevan today. Thomas Lubeck, IFC Regional Head for the Caucasus stated that the main goal of the exhibition is to assist Armenian enterprises in order to increase the level of energy efficiency. IFC report “Energy Efficiency: A New Resource for Sustainable Growth”, held among Armenian businessmen, evidences that the industrial sector of Armenia can reduce expenses on energy by 14.5%. Deputy Minister of Energy and Natural Resources Levon Vardanyan stated that the Ministry’s task is to create a favorable atmosphere for introduction of an energy efficiency system in Armenia. According to him, the issue of energy efficiency concerns all spheres of activity in the country, however many establishments and private companies do not realize the importance of the issue. “The sphere of energy efficiency needs significant financial support, however the budgetary means of Armenia do not yet allow solving these issues”, Deputy Minister stated.
