Yerevan/Mediamax/. Armenian Prime Minister Tigran Sargsian said today that the year of 2010 is being completed with economic growth indices of 2.6% instead of planned 1.2%. Mediamax reports that speaking at the last session of the Armenian government this year, Tigran Sargsian noted that this index is secured in conditions of 14.5% decline in the sphere of agriculture and 4% decline in the sphere of capital construction. According to him, economic growth is provided for mainly due to development of infrastructures and industry, “and this will become the main tendency for development in 2011-2012, since the key direction of our anti-crisis program has been and remains diversification of economy”. Tigran Sargsian also spoke about the achievements in the sphere of energy in 2010. He noted importance of launch of the new Yerevan HPP plant’s operations, due to which the efficiency of electricity production increased and they managed to avoid increase in the tariff for electricity for Armenia’s citizens. Prime Minister also noted importance of the launch of Iran-Armenia high voltage transmission facilities construction. Tigran Sargsian stated that in the nearest years the sphere of energy may become the driving force for Armenia’s economic development. Tweet Views 5712
