Yerevan/Mediamax/. Members of Yerevan Council of Elders elected Karen Karapetyan Mayor of Armenia’s capital city today. Mediamax reports that before election for the position of Yerevan Mayor, Karen Karapetyan occupied the position of General Director and Chairman of the Board of “ArmRosGazprom” CJSC Directors. Karen Karapetyan was nominated on December 16 at the session of the Council of the ruling Republican Party of Armenia (RPA), which took place under the chairmanship of Armenian President Serzh Sargsian. Presenting today the candidature of Karen Karapetyan, Head of RPA faction in the Council of Elders Derenik Dumanyan stated that he is an efficient manager, possesses high human and moral qualities and enjoys good reputation in the society. Speaking for the members of the Council of Elders, Karen Karapetyan stated that “today we have a good chance to create a modern and convenient city for Yerevan residents by joint efforts”. He noted that he is going to closely cooperate with the citizens of the capital. Karen Karapetyan was born on August 15, 1963, in Stepanakert. In 1985, he graduated with honors from Applied Mathematics Faculty of Yerevan State University. Karen Karapetyan occupied the position of General Director and Chairman of the Board of “ArmRosGazprom” CJSC Directors since 2001. Before that he had occupied the positions of Deputy Minister of Energy of Armenia and General Director of “Armenergo” Company. Karen Karapetyan is married and has three children. Tweet Views 10841
