Yerevan/Mediamax/. As of today, only 10% of transport means out of 430, subject to compulsory insurance of vehicle owners’ civil liability (CIVOCL), are insured. Mediamax reports that Deputy Chairman of the Central Bank (CB) of Armenia Vache Gabrielyan said this in Yerevan today, speaking at the joint news conference with Director of Car Insurers’ Bureau of Armenia Vahan Avetisyan. According to him, insurance companies are well prepared for sale of CIVOCL and do not experience lack of resources, however drivers do not hurry to insure their cars, “despite the fact that quite short time is left before January 1”. Vache Gabrielyan warned that starting from January 1, the police will fine drivers, who lack CIVOCL policies, and the volume of the fine (50 thousand AMD) in many cases exceeds the volume of CIVOCL agreement itself. “Insurance companies also work on Saturday, and some even on Sunday”, Vache Gabrielyan stated, adding that in all regions of the country, now there are thousands of insurance agents working and the tariffs, offered by insurance companies, are practically the same everywhere.
