Yerevan/Mediamax/. Central Bank (CB) urged Armenian citizens to be cautious as to fraud cases vie e-mail and SMS messages, which have become more frequent recently.

Mediamax was informed in the press service of CB that the CB’s Financial Monitoring Center urges citizens not to respond to strange e-mails or SMS messages. The Center also asked citizens to inform on fraud cases via (+37410) 545088 or 561601 telephone numbers or write to info_fiu@cba.am.

The Center publicized the most common fraud mechanisms by means of e-mail. In particular, here we speak about messages, in which favorable conditions for realizing a particular transaction are suggested, or assistance is offered for entrepreneurship initiatives. Another type of fraud in the net is the information, according to which the citizen has allegedly inherited a fortune or won a large sum of money.

Recently, outwork job offers via internet have become common as well. In all cases, the very first message requires from the citizens to make a payment allegedly for “organizational” purposes.

The Financial Monitoring Center of the Armenian Central Bank warns citizens that all the above-mentioned variants are ways to earn money, abusing the confidence of citizens, as a result of which citizens may bear serious financial losses.
