Yerevan /Mediamax/. Union of IT Enterprises (UITE) of Armenia will present to the government a number of proposals to facilitate import and export of IT-products. Mediamax reports that CEO of UITE Karen Vardanyan said this in Yerevan today. The proposals will be presented following the results of a half-year-lasting joint program between UITE and USAID “Reforms of Tax Legislation and Administration: Reduction of Corruption Risks”, which was launched in November. According to Karen Vardanyan, export and import of IT-production significantly slows down because of imperfection of customs and tax systems of Armenia. Among two most important problems, Karen Vardanyan noted the collection of VAT on the border and the absence of the rates price-list for imported computer production at the website of the customs service, the fact possessing serious corruption risks. Karen Vardanyan stated that VAT collection on the border for the goods, which have not yet been realized, seriously hinders the inflow of investments, noting that, in particular, this is why Intel Corporation refused to realize an investment program at the volume of $10mln in Armenia.
