An evening of German music was held on May 15 on the initiative of Converse Bank. The event was dedicated to the first anniversary of adoption of the Armenian Genocide resolution by the Bundestag.

The bank informs that the evening featured works by Bach, Schubert, Brahms, Schumann, Wagner and Armenian composers, including pianist Hayk Melikyan and Honored Artist of Armenia Anna Mayilyan.
 
“We are grateful to Germany for its position in condemnation of the Armenian Genocide. This is a good example proving that formation of global values and culture is the best way to solve complex issues and move forward,” Executive Director of Converse Bank Artur Hakobyan said.

Lecturer of the American University of Armenia, historian Tom Samuelyan, emphasizing recognition and condemnation of crimes against humanity, expressed his hope that adoption of the Armenian Genocide would help restore historical justice and enable the legal successors of massacred Armenians to recover their rights in the future.

“After the adoption by Bundestag of the resolution condemning the Armenian Genocide, Armenian young people gathered in front of the German Embassy to express their gratitude to us and chanted “Danke, Deutschland, Danke Schoen”. I am proud to be the only Ambassador in Armenia to be treated that way,” Ambassador of Germany to Armenia Matthias Kiesler said.
