Mastercard in cooperation with Etiquette has launched a cashless tipping service in Russia, Plusworld.ru reports.

The service makes tipping without cash quick, simple and secure, and the tips are immediately transferred to the waiter’s card. The new service is based on the smart platform Mastercard Transfer HUB, which has already been used in a number of money transfer projects in Russia. The acquirer is NSCA Money.Mail.ru.

To tip without cash, the patron only needs to scan with smartphone the NFC or QR code provided by the waiter. Then, the patron can rate the service, make comments and leave a tip on the service’s webpage.



Any bank card as well as Apple Pay and Google Pay e-wallets can be used for the service. Patrons do not need to download an app because the tipping service is loaded in the browser.

The restaurant staff only needs to create accounts in Etiquette. The employees do not need to update their data when they change jobs or bank cards.

Waiters, cooks and managers can register on the platform and get e-tips to the cards of leading international payment systems, issued by any Russian bank.

Most tips are transferred to the bank card, added to the account, in less than a minute. For Mastercard holders the commission fee could be less than 2.5%.
