Sberbank in cooperation with international payment system Visa and Azbuka Vkusa grocery store chain has opened a store with no cash desks and cashiers, equipped with the computer vision system.

TASS reports the news, citing the companies’ joint press statement.

“Sberbank, Azbuka Vkusa grocery store chain and international payment system Visa have opened Russia’s first store equipped with the computer vision system,” the statement reads.

In order to use the new service, the customer needs to download Sberbank’s Take&Go mobile app and open an account, adding their Visa card to it.


Upon entering the store, the customer should scan the QR code. Then, they can simply take the purchased products from the shelves and leave. The money will be taken from the card automatically.

The technology is being tested privately on a limited number of clients in an Azbuka Vsuka store in Moscow-City business center. Within a month anyone interested will be able to try the new technology.

According to Visa Russia Country Manager Michael Berner, the new service will be in demand in the nearest future, because the customer demand for innovative payment solutions is high in Russia.
