The first store that allows customers to withdraw cash when they make purchases with bank cards has opened in Moscow. The new service is called "Make purchase, withdraw cash".

The project is implemented by Mastercard, Russian Standard Bank and store network “Fasol”, which holds the franchise of one of the largest retail and small wholesale commerce operator globally METRO Cash&Carry.

Russian Standard Bank’s press service has said that the innovative service is now available to their customers who hold Mastercard debit and credit cards. The bank is the acquiring partner of the network.

In fact, Russian Standard Bank is the first and only bank in Russia to introduce the possibility of cash withdrawal during the purchase with bank card for their clients from the acquiring network.


The project is expected to develop further and METRO plans to offer the service to all its franchises. Moreover, Mastercard is working towards expanding the partner network with the intention to add new stores and banks. In order to get the cash within the new service, customers need to pay for the purchase with Russian Standard Bank’s Mastercard and warn the cashier beforehand about the withdrawal. Customers can request no more than RUB 5000 at a time.

Vice-President of Russian Standard Holding Eldar Bikmayev is certain that the new service will allow the partner organizations to get the tools for expanding the range of customer services and increasing their quality for current and potential clients.

Market Development Director at Mastercard Russia Ivan Isaenko has said that first of all, “Make purchase, withdraw cash” is a convenient method of money management for card holders, as well as an investment into advancement of cashless economy.
