PR and Communication Manager at Coca-Cola Hellenic Bottling Company Armenia, Elina Margaryan has held “Corporate social responsibility as part of business functions” online lecture for the students of Armenian State University of Economics (ASUE).

She has outlined several challenges that the company suggested to help with to the government.

“We decided to supply additional batches of Bonaqua water for both medical staff and patients for the duration of the pandemic. We have delivered 57,000 liters of water so far. In cooperation with the UN Development Programme, Coca-Cola Foundation bought mobile medical equipment and provided it to hospitals. This equipment enabled the doctors to provide aid in various places,” said Margaryan.

Coca-Cola advocates responsible use of water, because the company’s products are 98% water.

“When we use water, we are committed to return it into the nature, and we conduct production responsibly,” noted Elina Margaryan.

Every year Coca-Cola Hellenic Bottling Company Armenia allocates 2% of revenue to social programs. In 2020, the donation made AMD 34 million.

The company has always attached importance to “World without waste” strategy, but in 2018, it pledged at a global level to collect and recycle its waste in all countries of operation.

“This objective of this agenda is to install a system, which will allow for efficient recycling of waste, because each waster has additional life and can be used for different purposes. The general infrastructure is present in developing countries, work is being done, innovation is being done, for instance, the “eco” bottles, etc. As for Armenia, the most important part of our project is educating people. For two years, we have been raising awareness. It is important to change the attitude,” Margaryan said in the lecture.

The company also cooperates with the Ministry of Nature Protection in the business plan for waste management, which will serve as a foundation for a pilot program.

Due to the pandemic, the company could not implement educational programs in 2020, but this year it plans to hold events in 50 schools of Armenia.

“We cooperate with the Ministry of Education, which also understands the importance of “green” lessons,” concluded Elina Margaryan.
