Yerevan /Mediamax/. Head of Staff of the Armenian President Vigen Sargsyan said today that as a result of ''open skies'' policy, the number of tourists traveling to Armenia increased by 35%.

Vigen Sargsyan said this today during the press conference devoted to the introduction of the winner of the Armenian President's Award 2014 for outstanding contribution to the IT today, Mediamax reports.

''We see positive outcomes as a result of the ''open-skies'' policy worked out and implemented upon the Armenian President's assignment. As of August 2014, we registered 35% growth of number of tourists against the same period of 2013. It's a very important result. We are sure that the growth rates will be ongoing'', said Vigen Sargsyan.

The Head of the Armenian President's Staff stressed that the Armenian leadership will be consistent in continuation of the policy.

''All the airlines which will take interest in operating flights in Armenia will get full support. The President gave assignments to the aviation structures to be consistent in implementation of ''open skies'' policy'', said Vigen Sargsyan.

Mediamax recalls that the Armenian government took another step toward ''open skies'' policy by separating the functions of the structure responsible for drafting the policy, technical regulation and security control.
