Russia will set up a special task force which will study Upper Lars checkpoint within a month in order to repair certain parts of the border checkpoint.As the Armenian governmental press service reports, an agreement was reached during a phone call between Armenian Prime Minister Hovik Abrahamyan and Russian Minister of Transportation, Co-Chair of Armenia-Russia Intergovernmental Committee Maksim Sokolov today during which the parties discussed the reparation of certain parts of Upper Lars border checkpoint.The Armenian PM stressed the importance of solving the issue of snowdrifts and landslides caused by climatic conditions noting that they adversely affect the volume of cargo transportations.“I believe we can carry out a project aimed at the checkpoint’s infrastructural improvement. I recommend studying the area and widening the road in areas with most frequent flows”, said Hovik Abrahamyan and highlighted that the Armenian government is ready to join the Russian party and have direct participation in the construction works.
