Armenian Prime Minister Tigran Sargsyan stated today that he didn't change his stance on Armenia's joining the Customs Union and it's similar to the Russian authorities' viewpoint. The PM said this during a press conference following the session of Armenian-Russian Intergovernmental Commission in Saint Petersburg today. "Russian President Vladimir Putin's stance voiced in August 2012 during the two Presidents' meeting was as follows: given the fact that Armenia doesn't have a common border with the Customs Union, we should work toward ways of Armenia's integration to the Customs Union.Both Presidents gave assignments to work out tools for integration taking into account Armenia's peculiarities and particularly lack of common borders. A task force was established under the assignment of the Armenian and Russian Presidents in late 2012. We also intensively worked over the Eurasian Economic Commission. As a result, the Armenian PM and Chairman of Eurasian Economic Commission Victor Khristenko signed an agreement on cooperation. As a result of all these steps, tools are created to allow considerably reducing the transaction expenses due to lack of common borders with the Customs Union.
