Yerevan/Mediamax/. Yerevan Mayor Karen Karapetian and Director General of “South Caucasus Railway” CJSC Shevket Shaydulin signed an agreement on social-economic cooperation for 2011-2015.

As Mediamax was told in the press service of Yerevan Municipality, target programs for the development of rail transport and social infrastructures of the capital will be realized within the framework of the agreement. Karen Karapetian highlighted the importance of these programs for the citizens of Yerevan, expressing the hope that this example of cooperation between the city authorities and the business-entity will be “contagious” for the business community.

The agreement envisages a complex program for the development of urban and suburban infrastructure of rail transport, creation of transport juncture for increasing the efficiency of the railway, subway and urban transportation.

Besides, the Mayor suggested that the SCR submit technical and economic calculations for the expansion (new construction) of “Children’s Railway”.

Within the framework of the agreement the parties will also consider the possibility of equipping a passenger platform for Yerevan-Hrazdan-Yerevan electric train adjacent to Yerevan “Almast” factory.
