Yerevan/Mediamax/. Armenian Minister of Economy Tigran Davtyan stated today their plans to put additional legislative levers into operation in order to improve the competitive environment.Mediamax reports that, speaking at the joint meeting of the Board of the Ministry of Economy and the Union of Manufacturers and Entrepreneurs of Armenia (UMEA), Tigran Davtyan stated that the small volumes of the Armenian market hinder establishment of a competitive environment in the country, and the existing tools are not sufficient to establish conditions for equal competitive struggle. In this context, the Minister stressed the necessity of additional legislative initiatives, as well as close cooperation between the Ministry and the subjects of real economy, and, first of all, with UMEA. “This will help us concretize our policy and further actions”, Minister stated. Answering the questions of journalists on the guarantees that the Ministry of Economy will be able to “fight down” oligopolies, Tigran Davtyan stated that the more correct definition of the phenomenon, known in Armenia, is the “dominating position”, urging to “wait a bit” in order to see the results.
