Chairman of Standing Parliamentary Committee on Social Issues, MP from ruling Republican Party of Armenia (RPA) Hakob Hakobyan stated that in the view of unfavorable agricultural year, increase of prices for products was not unexpected. Mediamax reports that Hakob Hakobyan said this, speaking at a news conference in Yerevan. According to him, it is not surprising that managing subjects try to use this situation to their benefit, however the corresponding structures on protecting economic competition carry out constant control over the market of foodstuffs in order to suppress unfair manifestations in price policy. Management expert Harutyun Mesrobyan expressed an opinion that as of today, there is no clear-cut strategy for developing the agricultural sector in Armenia, and each year farmers “play totalizator”, trying to guess the most profitable sowing campaign. The Armenian MP expressed consent with the opinion of the expert, noting that one should take up concrete steps on adopting an agriculture strategy and minimizing farmers’ risks. According to him, the Committee presented the corresponding offer to consideration of the parliament. At that he noted that as of today, potato harvesting has launched in mountainous regions, and in the nearest future one can forecast reduction of prices in the market. Tweet Views 14287
