Yerevan/Mediamax/. Famous American rock musician of Armenian origin, former lead singer of “System of a Down” Serj Tankian said in Yerevan today that he will participate in the fund-raising project for Gyumri N6 music school rebuilding.

We present Serj Tankian’s answers to Mediamax’s questions at the news conference, which took place in Yerevan today:

- Rock stars Ian Gillan (Deep Purple) and Tony Iommi (Black Sabbath, Heaven and Hell) participate in the fund-raising project for Gyumri N6 music school rebuilding. The school was destroyed during the earthquake of 1988. We know that taking into account the existing experience of cooperation in music, Tony Iommi’s management offered your manager to consider the possibility of making joint recording, the proceeds from which will be used for school rebuilding. What is your reaction to that offer?
 
- I met with Tony Iommi’s daughter in Finland, where she lives. I know about the project, which is implemented by Tony Iommi and Ian Gillan, aiming at assisting Gyumri, and I believe that this is a wonderful idea. Their managers contacted my office and now we are trying to define the best form and time for joint work.

- When can we expect the joint recordings?

- I am not sure those will be joint recordings. We can mix Black Sabbath songs, just like we have already done it with System of a Down, and place them on iTunes. We can come to a final agreement around an idea, which will be most productive. We want to find a most creative and productive form for rendering assistance to Gyumri music school.

The project of Gyumri N6 music school rebuilding is jointly implemented by Mediamax, Australian “Do Something” organization and the Fund for Armenian Relief. From the $250 000, necessary for rebuilding the school, $72.000 is already raised: $45.000 represents the proceeds from Ian Gillan’s two concerts in Yerevan and $27.000 was allocated by the Armenian government.
