Yerevan/Mediamax/. President Serzh Sargsian stated that Armenia sees prospects for electricity export to Turkey. Mediamax reports that, speaking at the annual session of the Nuclear Energy Security Council under the Armenian President today, Serzh Sargsian spoke about importance of Armenia’s integration to regional energy markets. According to him, quite important is Armenia’s participation in regional projects in gas transport sphere and energy. “In terms of Armenia’s integration to regional energy markets, the country’s interaction in the Southern direction – in the direction of Iran, and in northern direction – to Georgia and Russia develops successfully”, Armenian President stated. According to him, Armenia has taken certain steps on normalization of relations with Turkey. “Opening of the blocked border with Europe would give the chance to develop economic ties, including in the sphere of energy. And, despite the fact that as a result of the Turkish government’s inaction the process is suspended, we see potential for electricity export to Turkey and to transit countries of Middle East”, Armenian President stated.
