Yerevan /Mediamax/. Guitarist Tony Iommi intends to rerecord one of “Black Sabbath” legendary rock band’s songs to render assistance to the earthquake zone in Armenia. Mediamax reports that he announced this in Yerevan today. Tony Iommi is in Yerevan within the framework of “Armenia Grateful 2 Rock” project. Tony Iommi stated that, having visited Spitak and Gyumri towns yesterday, he realized that Armenia still needs help. He informed that the funds raised from sales of this recording will be spent for building a new musical school in Gyumri. Answering the question concerning the song to be rerecorded, Tony Iommi stated: “Probably, it will be “Paranoid”, or any others song”. Vocalist of “Deep Purple” band Ian Gillan, member of “Asia” band Geoff Downes and legendary Australian tennis player Pat Cash are also in Yerevan within the framework of “Armenia Grateful 2 Rock” project. Goal of Mediamax’s “Armenia Grateful 2 Rock” project is to express gratitude to participants of “Rock Aid Armenia” project, realized 20 years ago in 1989. At that time, the British rock stars recorded a cover-version of Deep Purple’s “Smoke on the Water” song and produced the special “Earthquake Album”, and the entire proceeds from sale of the album were sent to Armenia, which had suffered from disastrous Spitak earthquake in 1988. General sponsor of the project is “ArmRosGazprom” Company, which occupies the 1st place in the list of top taxpayers in Armenia. BMI is the sponsor and the official airline of the project.
