Yerevan /Mediamax/. Board of the Central Bank of Armenia made a decision today on lowering the refinancing rate by 0.25 percentage points – down to 5%. As Mediamax was informed in the press service of the Central Bank today, in August, as compared to July, deflation at the volume of 0.4% was registered, and inflation during the year made 3.5%. Board of Armenian CB noted that in the current period, signs of world economy improvement were still observed and simultaneously gradual increase of world prices for raw materials and certain provisions was registered. In these conditions, despite the continuing tendency of gross demand reduction, no inflationary pressures were registered in domestic markets. Taking into account the continuing tendency for GDP reduction, and basing on assessments on preserving inflation in the targeted period, Board of Armenian CB considers it expedient to lower the rates, this being consonant with the tendencies in the financial market, and, without threatening the stability of prices, contributing to economy stirring up.
