Yerevan /Mediamax/. The definitions, given to Armenian economy by the Georgian President at the opening of a recreation center, “are absolutely ungrounded”. Spokesman to the Armenian President Samvel Farmanyan said this, commenting on Mediamax’s request on the statement of the Georgian President on the “collapse of Armenian economy”. “On the other hand, I do not think that such definitions are the best way to distract attention of the own people from various problems, existing in Georgia”, Spokesman for the Armenian President stated. According to him, Armenian President has been many times asked about both internal political and social-economic situation in neighboring countries. “As you have noticed, Armenian President has never made statements on such subjects, no matter how attractive it might be in this or that situation, leaving the comments on such issues to analysts, as well as to the state and political figures of the given country. This is what political correctness implies”, Samvel Farmanyan noted. Spokeswoman to the Georgian President stated that Mikhail Saakashvili’s statement was “misunderstood” Spokeswoman to the Georgian President Alana Gagloyeva stated in an interview to Mediamax that “Mikhail Saakashvili’s words were not meant to offend the Armenian government”. Alana Gagloyeva said this, commenting on Mediamax’s request on the statement of the Georgian President on “collapse of Armenian economy”. “The speech of the Georgian President was related to concrete economic events in the region. Since the national currency of Armenia was devaluated, this, according to us, has influenced the economic situation in Armenia on the whole. Mikhail Saakashvili also stated that Georgia’s economy is more protected, since Georgia does not have such volume of trade-economic relation of Russia, as Armenia does. Thus, the words of the Georgian President were not meant to offend the Armenian government”, the Spokeswoman stated. Answering the question of Mediamax on whether the Georgian President had really stated that “Armenia’s economy has collapsed”, Alana Gagloyeva said the following: “Most likely, the statement of the Georgian President was misunderstood”.
