Yerevan /Mediamax/. Lycos Armenia Company presented official application concerning its intention to dismiss 213 of its employees in April, 2009. Mediamax reports that the Head of “Armenian State Employment Service” Agency under the Ministry of Labor and Social Issues Sona Harutyunyan said this in Yerevan today.Presenting the situation in the labor market of Armenia in conditions of the global financial-economic crisis, she noted that as of January 20, 414 people were dismissed under staff reduction in the republic, 1603 people received warning on dismissal, and 1069 people resigned of their own accord. Sona Harutyunyan informed that the majority of dismissals is registered in Armenian Copper Program Company (84 employees), “ArmenTel” CSJC (82 employees) and Information Center for Science and Technology of Armenia (180 employees). Spokeswoman of “ArmenTel” Anush Begloyan stated in an interview to Mediamax that the above-mentioned reductions are by no means related to the crisis. “The company has been carrying out restructuring for over half a year to improve the level of service in sales and service offices, as well as to modernize the technical systems”, Anush Begloyan stated. She also noted that “ArmenTel” actively enrolls new employees, posting the corresponding announcements at its website and through specialized structures. Sona Harutyunyan stated today that the number of unemployed, who wait for their turn in “Armenian State Employment Service” Agency, makes 145 900 people (6.3% of the population).
