Yerevan /Mediamax/. International contest on mathematics “Kangaroo without borders” (Le Kangourou sans Frontières-KSF) will take place in Armenian schools on March 19, 2009. Mediamax reports that the corresponding memorandum was signed in Yerevan today by the Minister of Science and Education of Armenia Spartak Seyranyan and the Executive Director of “AYB” Educational Foundation, Father Mesrop Aramyan. Father Mesrop Aramyan stated that due to the work of “AYB”, this year Armenia became a full member of KSF and next year for the first time will officially participate in the contest equally with European countries. “KSF gives the chance to develop in children the ability to think and orient themselves in time”, Mesrop Aramyan stated. Projects Director of “AYB” Foundation David Sahakyan informed that, according to the rules, pupils of 3-11 grades may participate in the contest. The contest is realized without a cut round: all participants of the contest-game receive certificates, the best participants are awarded special prizes and diplomas, and the winners gain the opportunity to have a rest in a camp in Europe. David Sahakyan stated that in 2008 a pilot contest in 6 schools was realized in Armenia. 630 pupils participated in the contest. Following its results, Armenia became a full member of KSF without the necessity to participate in the second selection round, Projects Director of “AYB” Foundation stated in an interview to Mediamax. David Sahakyan also stated that “AYB” Foundation has reached arrangements with Georgian representatives of KSF to realize contests in schools of Samtskhe-Javakheti in Armenian language. “AYB” Educational Foundation was founded in 2006.
