To commemorate the 120th anniversary of the world-famous composer Aram Khachaturian, a ceremony was held to announce the commissioning launch of the solar photovoltaic power station and the modernization of the lighting system of the composer’s house museum.

"Armenian Energy Agency" Foundation (AEA), "HSBC Bank Armenia" CJSC (HSBC Armenia) and "Electric Networks of Armenia" CJSC (ENA) joined efforts to implement the "Solar Energy for Cultural Heritage" project. The initiative aims to support the Armenian cultural heritage site to operate more sustainably and energy efficiently, ensure financial stability and become more attractive to visitors. This time, the beneficiary of the project is the "Aram Khachatryan House-Museum" SNOC, on the roof of which a 20.71 kW photovoltaic power station was installed. It is expected that the power station will generate around 29,000 kWh of electricity annually saving approximately AMD 1,550,000. As part of the project, the museum's lighting system was modernized: 75 LED lamps were installed, providing high-quality, energy-efficient lighting for the long term.

"Development of renewable energy and energy efficiency are the guarantee of energy independence, and the mission of our foundation is to support the establishment of energy independence of Armenia. Climate change is one of the most important topics both in the world and in our country. Therefore, AEA’s efforts also focus on addressing climate change. The increase in greenhouse gases in the atmosphere has intensified the impact of climate change. However, this impact can be mitigated through the utilization of renewable energy, energy conservation and other measures. Staying true to its strategy and recognizing the significance of culture, AEA, in celebration of its 5th anniversary, decided to continue the culturally oriented initiative "Solar Energy for Cultural Heritage" project. The initiative aims to reduce the electricity consumption of historically, culturally and nationally important sites by applying energy-saving solutions. The funds saved are then directed towards addressing other issues. Therefore, I would like to thank all the parties involved in the program for this opportunity, as well as our partner "Solar AM" company for the construction of the station and the implementation of technical works," says AEA General Director Luiza Vardanyan.

The funds saved through this project's execution will be allocated towards supporting another long-term initiative, specifically, the publication of sheet music featuring compositions by the famous composer. Annually, 300 copies of Aram Khachaturian's famous compositions will be published.

A part of the collections printed with the saved funds will be provided free of charge to libraries and music institutions in Armenia and abroad, spreading the creative heritage of the great composer,” said Natalya Sarjanyan, Head of the Corporate Relations Department of the National Academy of Arts and Sciences.

Back in 2021, our bank provided financial support for the launch of the first project of the "Solar Energy for Cultural Heritage" initiative. As a result, a 20.08 kW solar photovoltaic power station was installed on the roof of Hovhannes Tumanyan Museum. I am pleased that our ongoing financial support is now enabling the second cultural site to save funds, directing them towards addressing other important challenges,” added Irina Seylanyan, CEO of HSBC Armenia.
