Government of Armenia presented the 2022 performance report.According to it, 3 698 256 passengers were served by Armenia’s airports in 2022, which is 54% more as compared with 2021. About 951,100 passengers from the mentioned passenger traffic used Armenian airlines, which is 313.2% more as compared with 2021 (303,700 passengers).In 2022, 23,341 tons of cargo were transported by air, the increase made 35% as compared with 2021 (17,321 tons).According to the report, the share of passengers transported by Armenian airlines in the total passenger traffic was 25% in 2022 and 11% in 2021.In 2022, Fly Arna Armenian National Airlines, co-founded by the Armenian National Interest Fund (ANIF), received Aircraft Operating Certificate and Air Operator License by the Civil Aviation Committee. The airline, which has been operating since July 2022, transported more than 80,000 passengers during the same year. In 2022, regular flights were operated to about 45 destinations, 9 of which were launched in 2022 (to Larnaca, Tel Aviv, Istanbul, Antalya, Abu Dhabi, Rome, Vilnius, Milan, Chisinau).The report mentions that the comprehensive discussion of the new major investment project by Zvartnots International Airport has already started.“Consequent and intensive work has been carried out to remove the Armenian air carriers from the EU flight safety list and restore their rights to fly in the EU airspace.”A number of legal acts, manuals, procedures and other normative documents were developed and updated. 22 of the 41 deficiencies in quality (compliance) control and flight safety control recorded by the EU in the framework of the inspection visit in 2020 have been eliminated, and works on 19 are underway,” the report reads.
