Yerevan /Mediamax/. Informal Forum of Heads of Armenian IT Companies took place in Dilijan on December 6-7. During the forum, the problems of the sphere and the prospects for its development were discussed.

Mediamax reports that the Minister of Economy of Armenia Nerses Yeritsyan and the representatives of the Committee on State Revenues were present at the forum.

Head of IT enterprises put forward a number of issues: difficulties with production export and import, bad quality of internet connection, difficulties with assessment of companies while crediting, the necessity to set up venture fund to develop IT industry.

Nerses Yeritsyan expressed readiness to consider all proposals of IT companies. He urged them to take part in the free economy zone, which will be established in Gyumri, as well as noted the opportunity to set up free economy zone for IT companies within the framework of the Scientific Research Institute of Mathematical Machines after Mergelyan and “Mars” plant, handed over to the management of Russian “Sitronics” Company.

The topic of establishing venture fund for IT enterprises with 20% participation of the state in it was discussed at the forum.

Talking about the influence of the global financial-economic crisis on Armenia’s IT sector, Nerses Yeritsyan expressed confidence that the crisis is a chance for Armenia, since in the course of the recent ten years the country has gained serious macroeconomic resources.

“Without inflationary pressures, Armenia may threefold increase the budget deficit and the external debt, which makes only 15% of the GDP, which is a low index”, Nerses Yeritsyan stated.
