The official opening of the Armenia-Argentine Chamber of Commerce in Armenia took place yesterday.  Artur Hakobyan, the CEO of Converse Bank took part in the ceremony.  

The event was organized on the initiative of the Embassy of Argentina in Armenia.  Guests from Argentina, managers of Converse Bank and the representatives of business community and government institutions of Armenia were present.

“Converse Bank is one of the first companies of Armenia with Argentine capital, whose main shareholder is Mr. Eduardo Eurnekian.  Today Eurnekian Family also manages Tierras de Armenia, Karas Wines, and Armenia International Airports. The foundation of these companies not only stimulated the development of various branches of economy, but also created thousands of new and stable jobs,” Artur Hakobyan, the CEO of Converse Bank stated.

He expressed willingness on behalf of Converse Bank to show comprehensive support to the activities of the Chamber.

“The Armenian-Argentine Chamber of Commerce is assuming a rather exciting commitment – to connect countries and businesses thousands of miles apart.  

The development of economic ties with various countries and promotion of investments is an imperative at this stage of economic development in Armenia and the new Chamber can play a unique role in the bilateral economic initiatives.  We are more than certain that the Armenian-Argentine economic ties have great prospects for improvements in industry, trade, IT, tourism, agriculture and human capital management,” said Artur Hakobyan.

Mariano Vergara, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Argentina to Armenia noted that Converse Bank has been a remarkable partner of the Embassy of Argentina in Armenia in many initiatives.  The Bank has supported different events, among which are the Days of Argentinian Tango in Armenia, opening of Argentinian Center in Bryusov University and others.

“Converse Bank is an excellent example of successful investment, it is a well-established business bridging two civilizations in cultural, educational and medical areas as well.  I hope similar “bridges” will expand due to the activities of the Chamber,” said the Ambassador.

The oversight of the bank is exercised by the Central Bank.
