To stimulate domestic tourism, the Tourism Committee of the Ministry of Economy of Armenia is to hold Domestic Tourism Expo on May 27 and 28, 2021, ahead of the active tourist season. The Expo, being organized under the umbrella of Travel for Armenia («Ճանաչի՛ր Հայաստանը»), aims to showcase the tourism potential of Armenia’s 10 marzes.The official opening of the Expo will be held on May 27. For two days, it will to showcase to public at large Armenia’s tourism potential, discover less-covered places of interest in the provinces, and present the experience and cuisine peculiarities of each marz.Given the importance of facilitating extreme tourism in Armenia, the Expo organizers have saved pavilions for a number of providers of extreme tours and new travel products, which are making Armenia more attractive particularly for extreme tourism lovers in recent years.The Expo will serve as a trigger for a long-term domestic tourism campaign #TravelForArmenia, initiated by the USAID-funded My Armenia Program jointly with the Tourism Committee.In parallel to the exhibition, on May 27th, over 70 local and international tourism professionals and industry representatives will come together to network and share experiences during one-day live sessions and panel discussions at the Tufenkyan Heritage Hotel in Yerevan. Representatives of USAID and Georgian National Tourism Administration, local tourism and marketing experts will participate in the panel discussions on the topics of Digital Transformation during COVID-19 and Digital Innovation. The Domestic Tourism Expo is organized with the support of the EU4Business “Innovative Tourism and Technology Development for Armenia” project, which is co-funded by the European Union and the Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ) and implemented by German Development Cooperation (GIZ).
