A Call for Applications for Agribusiness Support has been announced within the framework of the EU Green Agriculture Initiative in Armenia (EU-GAIA) project.The project is funded by the European Union, co-funded by the Austrian Development Cooperation, and implemented by the Austrian Development Agency and UNDP in Armenia. The Government partner of the project is the Armenian Ministry of Economy. Farmers, producers, processors can participate in the call for applications. It consists of the following components:1) Support for "Green" agricultural projects only in Shirak, Lori and Tavush regions for fresh and processed fruits, berries, vegetables, legumes, herbs and sheep breeding.2) Support for organic (certified or willing to get certified) agribusinesses in all regions of Armenia and in all value-chains. Application package is published at the Media Announcements section of the Ministry of Economy website. The deadline for submitting applications is March 1, 2021, at 16:00 (Yerevan time).The support for small scale agribusinesses will be provided through agricultural production machinery and equipment, post-harvest and processing equipment and some infrastructural inputs. Only fixed assets will be provided, not monetary grants.Preference will be given to agribusinesses run by women as well as young people and vulnerable groups.Applications will be selected per the set criteria and methodology. Only shortlisted applicants will be contacted.The list of winners of the first round of the Austrian Development Agency competition will be published in the coming days.About the EU-GAIA projectThe EU’s Green Agriculture Initiative in Armenia (EU-GAIA) is funded by the European Union (EUR 9.7 million) and co-funded by Austrian Development Cooperation (EUR 2 million). The project is implemented by the Austrian Development Agency and the United Nations Development Programme in Armenia. The Government counterpart of the project is the Ministry of Economy of the Republic of Armenia. The EU-GAIA project supports the development of sustainable, inclusive, innovative and market-based agribusiness particularly in the northern regions of Armenia – Shirak, Lori and Tavush.
