The Central Bank of Armenia today has put into circulation the “Mother Cathedral of Holy Etchmiadzin” silver collector coin.The bank has said that the face value of the coin is AMD 30,100 and the weight is 1,000 grams. The obverse features the Mother Cathedral of Holy Etchmiadzin, and the reverse side pictures the altar of the cathedral against the background of the inner part of the dome.The bank has issued 301 such coins. The coins were minted in the Mayer Mint, Germany.CIT Coin Invest AG (Liechtenstein) is the author of the project.The Central Bank has recalled that on the initiative of Catholicos Karekin II, a comprehensive renovation of the Mother Cathedral began in 2012, which is scheduled to be completed in 2021.In 2000, the Mother Cathedral has been included in the UNESCO World Heritage List.
