Yerevan, January 31 /Mediamax/. Armenian President Robert Kocharian received in Yerevan today the Chairman of Alcatel-Lucent Serge Tchuruk and the Chairman of Knightsbridge Group, former Armenian PM Armen Sarkisian. As Mediamax was told in the presidential press service, Serge Tchuruk presented to the President the activity of Alcatel-Lucent, noting that the Company plans to take up realization of a number of programs in Armenia. The sides discussed the prospects of implementation of innovational technologies in the Armenian economy and the science-research sphere, as well the cooperation in the sphere of securing Armenia with high-speed and high-quality internet connection. Stressing the importance of the mutually beneficial cooperation, Armenian President described as a most important task for the coming years the transition from softaware programming to production of high technologies. Mediamax notes that on January 22 of 2008, Armen Sarkisian met with the President of Turkmenistan Kurbanguly Berdymukhamedov in Ashgabad and stated that the Knightsbridge Group is ready to become an operator and investor for a project of implementation of wireless broadband networks in Turkmenistan. Armen Sarkisian presented also the proposals on construction of a modern sea port in Turkmenbashi town, development of energy cooperation, participation in extraction and processing of carbohydrates. Kurbanguly Berdymukhamedov noted then that the voiced proposals deserve to be studied carefully and in detail.
